Would he ever return?

                King Dedede looked towards the skies, unusually pensive this night. He was only thinking about an enemy who had the gall to possess him not once, not twice, but thrice! That Dark Matter… and by extention, Zero. It had been years since he had seen them last, their last appearance being when they corrupted Ripple Star. Kirby defeated them thrice (at least, in Dark Matter’s case), each with a different ability: First, the legendary Rainbow Sword formed by the Rainbow Drops; second, the Heart Rod, or Lovelove Stick, formed by all the love and friendship of the people he helped along the way; and finally, the Crystal Gun, formed by the power shards of Ripple Star’s Power Crystal. It had been enough to banish them… at least for now, he thought.

                Dream Land had been relatively peaceful ever since Zero was destroyed. Sure, there was that Mirror World mishap, that cake rampage Kirby went on, that Necrodeus incident, everybody turning to yarn, and now that ship repairing work, but really, there were no Nightmares, no Dark Matter, no absolute chaos. If he wanted chaos, he had to make his own. Not that he went out of his way to do that, mind you. That cost too much effort, and would only result in seven kirbies beating him up for his trickery. One angry kirby was bad enough, but seven? Well, Kabi was angry aaaall the time, so it didn’t matter, but an angry Timmy or angry Kusanagi? That would be painful, rather painful. Keeby was a different story altogether…. A story he didn’t want to even talk about.

                For a moment, King Dedede wondered if Zero would return. It had been too long since something remotely threatening had come along. He needed a challenge or two. Sitting on his buttocks all day was no way to do that. Sure, it was fun being lazy, but come on! He sighed and went back to bed, though. There was no way Zero would return. Just no way…

               

                A strange dream came to him. The penguin found himself strangely alone in his castle. He walked the corridors, trying to find out where everybody was at. Fumu wasn’t home, Escargoon wasn’t in his room, the Waddle Dees weren’t tending to their duties… what was going on?

                When Dedede got outside, he found his answer.

                Something descended from the skies. Red feathers fell slowly to the ground. Dedede picked one up, only to find it melt in his hands like a snowflake exposed to heat. Melt into blood. All of Dream Land were gathered here in front of his castle, watching the strange spectacle. Even the Kirby Brigade was there, staring high into the skies. Kirby was strangely pale, his pupils shrinking to the size of tiny pebbles.

                “O, YE OF LITTLE FAITH….” A voice boomed out from the heavens, capturing everyone’s attention. The skies were stained black with streaks of red, crimson feathers still falling from the skies. “DID YOU TRULY THINK YOU COULD ESCAPE ME?”

                The ground was  stained with blood. The people began to feel uneasy. Keeby shuddered, hiding under her parasol as Kusanagi tried his best to comfort her. Dedede  grit his teeth and pulled out his hammer, pointing it towards the heavens right at the source of the voice. “Hey, you dere!” he yelled. “Why you causin trouble here? I didn’t order no monstah to clobbah dat Kirbeh! Git out of here, or I’ll clobbah yah!”

                A cruel, wicked laugh echoed from the clouds. “FOOLISH AS EVER, ARE YOU… KING DEDEDE?”

                “Oh, shut ya mouth and leave! You’re not even worth our time!”

                “UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, YOU WOULDN’T BE WORTH MINE. HOWEVER, YOU HAVE BEEN A THORN AT MY SIDE FOR TOO LONG.” Now the feathers stopped in midair and formed into blades of blood, pointing right at Dream Land’s population. The commoners felt the urge to scatter, run away from whatever threatened them. The Brigade, however, stood their ground. So did the Waddle Dee and Waddle Doo army and their beloved King. Another laugh from the skies. “HOW CUTE. YOU STILL OPPOSE ME LIKE THE LITTLE WORMS YOU ARE.”

                “Git out,” Dedede warned, anger bubbling in his heart, “or I’ll MAKE YA GIT OUT!”

                Something white hovered above all. It was not a cloud, not at all. It was merely a white blob, just floating there. Yet… it began to form wings. Many wings of blood and torn flesh formed on the blob. Three spiked, green tails formed from the bottom. A crimson halo appeared above the blob while tiny little wounds opened up around it. Finally, in the middle of it all… was a gigantic red eyeball.

                Reality twisted around him, shifting into nightmares. A dark aura surrounded him, the essence of evil radiating from every pore of his body. He laughed again as some of the blades floating in midair crashed into the land, crashed away from the castle… and turned all that they touched into ashes.

                “I AM THE HARBINGER OF DESTRUCTION.”

                Screams rang through the air like a twisted siren song.

                “I AM THE SERAPHIM OF DEATH.”

                One by one, the people disappeared. The cappies, the Waddle Dees, the Waddle Doos, the Kirbies…

                “I EXIST NOWHERE AND EVERYWHERE.”

                Until only Dedede remained, staring the creature right in the eye, entire body shuddering.

                “YOU THINK YOU CAN OPPOSE ME?”

                Thump. Thump.

                “ME, ZERO CUBED?”

                The penguin resisted all urges to scream, but fell down onto the ground as the red eye  stared right through him…right in front of him…

                “I AM THE EMBODIMENT OF NOTHINGNESS ACROSS THREE DIMENSIONS. YOU ONLY WISH YOU COULD STOP ME… DEDEDE.”

                A hammer raised. All fear, gone.

                “HOW CUTE. YOU STILL OPPOSE ME.”

                A weapon swung.

                “BUT AS YOU WILL SOON FIND…”

                A piercing scream. The ground, rended.

                “… NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY TO BANISH ME…”

                Nothing remaining of the last Dream Lander. A cackle.

                “YOUR DOOM BY MY HANDS WAS INEVITIBLE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.”

                Dedede woke with a start. Carefully, he looked around the room for any sign of life. Bandana Dee was sleeping in his own little bed, unharmed. Owls were hooting late at night, trying to find their prey. With a sigh, the penguin shook his head, then went back to sleep.

                It was a good thing that Zero would never come back. Thank goodness for that.

Harpy Reviews Kirby Mass Attack

Woo, boy. I just got done with this game and MAN, it was a doozy! And it will still be a doozy trying to 100% it! BRRR.

And now, its time to rip this apart.

Kirby Mass Attack is a puzzle platformer in which you, the player, get to abuse flick up to ten kirbies around using your almighty stylus. You use them to solve puzzles and beat the living crap out of enemies. Also, if you hate Kirby's "poyos," don't get this game. You will HATE it. Because "POYO POYO POY POY POY."

Basically, Kirby is snoozing in a field one day when this douche named Necrodeus (hahaha, corpse god. I see what you did there, HAL) swoops in. He wants to, as most dark, scaaary villains do, drown the world in darkness. So he screws Kirby over by zapping him with his staff and splitting him into ten, which only had 1/10th of his original power. Then he fucking kills nine of them. Like a douche.

Thank god Sarah isn't involved in this. Otherwise the game would have been over before it even started!

He's about to zap the last kirby when OH LOOK A STAR! It happened to be Kirby's heroic heart! Or spirit! Whatever, it's a plot device! It leads the kirby to safety, and then our epic adventure starts!

Yeah, if you're trying to look for a "WTFEPIC" plot here, I'm gonna have to ask you to GET OUUUUT

The main two mechanics are flying your kirbies to safety (pressing an area and gathering them up in a bubble, then dragging them around) and flinging them (tap a kirby and flick your stylus).  You will be using these two a lot if you want to get past this game. The kirbies can pull out turnips, knock down trees,  swim underwater like fast little buggers, and other things! If you have enough kirbies, you can get other goodies, too!

There is plenty to collect, too: Medals. Lots of them. They unlock little minigames in the Extras section, which are a BLAST to play through. Well, some of them anyway. There's a timing game along the line and its jolly good fun. Lots of cameos, too... and Canon Immigrants from the anime! Yay!

The graphics are pretty good here. Its all cutesy, reflecting the peaceful and dreamy... well, Dream Land.  Pretty good music, too! Air Ride lovers will recognize a few mixes of Air Ride songs tossed in, so be aware! Necrodeus's theme is creepy, though. Its like what you get when you combine a skeleton and a clown togethe-

Okay, so that is creeepy. Very catchy, though!

Onto gameplay! Some people will complain about the lack of copy abilities and floating. And to them, I say... wait a few more days. Return to Dream Land is coming out soon, dagnabbit. For what its worth, hot damn this game. Every level has its own particular gimmick, so you're not stuck in doing the exact same thing over and ooover again. There is always something new to do and more to collect. The bosses are pretty fun, too. There's a balance of difficulty, unlike some. The levels start off as easy, then progressively get harder and harder as you go along. Also, autoscroll. It will squish your kirbies and kill them all. ALL OF THEM.

Only problem I see is that your kirbies can die easily to just about anything remotely dangerous. Pink kirbies that take a hit turn blue; a hit to a blue kirby and that kills 'em. You can always drag their souls back with the other kirbies, but you can kiss your silver (or gold) star goodbye. And even then, they come back as blue rather than pink.

Oh yeah, there's always a great challenge. See if you can collect ALL of the medals in each and every level and clear it with no Kirbies damaged at all (basically that nets you a gold star). Complete each and every checklist item. I DARE YOU.

All in all, this game is buckets of fun and has quite a bit of replay value. At least, if you're a perfectionist. Or maybe because you just like playing through your favorite levels again. Its good for just about everybody, and its a perfect way to end the dying DS's game line. I give this a 9/10. Not absolutely perfect (sometimes you might have trouble flicking your kirbies), but pretty close.

I managed to clock in 36 hours on my first go, and collected 114 Kirbies along the way. (You can only keep 10, but a lot of kirbies die. A lot. Along the way. ) And of all the kirbies that were knocked out, I saved 288 of them. Yay~

Buckets of Fun! (and PLOT SHEENANIGAAANS)

Oh man, I have Kirby Mass Attack. If you see a lot of kirbies in the bar, you know what my deal is.

All joking aside, I will be tossing a few references here and there. I swear, though... For a kirby game people tend to complain about ("WAAAH WHERE ARE MY COPY ABILITIES AND FLOATING WAAH" "shush Kirby: Return to Dreamland will be out soon ya wankah" ), it is BUCKETS of fun. Seriously. The music is great, the graphics are good, you get to control up to ten.. count 'em, TEN little kirbies and flick them around! The game is based off of taking this buggers, solving puzzles, and flicking them around like a douchebag. Also, they zerg rush enemies. They are cute little dangerous zergs.

My favorite part about this game? The puzzle element. Trying to get everything involves a lot of thinking and maneuvering around obsticles. You gotta use your head for most of the game! You also have to be very careful, for kirbies die EASILY. (Two hits and they're out.) Fortunately, you can just zerg rush their souls and drag their asses back to earth to revive them... 

Not only that... Poyos. Lots of them. To some, this might be the equivallent of Navi's "HEY, LISTEN!"  To others, like me, it is the most adorbable thing ever. I shit you not. 

Also, ten jumbo, rainbow, invincible kirbies. The Kaijus of Dream Land, surely.


And now, to more serious matters... Plot for next year. RedSpy mentioned on skype once that instead of choosing characters that fit around the theme, we just make fit our own characters to the theme. Like, here... we have a lot of characters that aren't from the 80s, but they still do 80s things. So yeah, most of my characters will return, barring major issues. I have a plot idea for next year..

It will revolve around a dark force that Kirby accidently (and unknowingly) brought  to ZF on his way there, one that possesses others at night and causes them to do dirty deeds. It'll be the typical "WOOORLD DOMINATION" kind of villain, but this one is a bit smarter than the rabble. He will try to get others blamed for his crimes, and even gets Kirby imprisoned by possessing him and releasing horrid monsters never meant to roam the world. 

This will tie in heavily to SteelKomodo's RAEG plot if it happens. This force FEEDS on anger and hatred. With all the tension and people shoving blame on others, he'll be making the most delicious ham, cheese, bacon, and mustard sandwich out of that rage. Kirby may not rage at all, but he WILL be absolutely miserable. All for the sake of character development for all. 

I'll try not to be invasive with my plot, though. And I'll only possess those who will allow me to control their characters... Usually it will happen when everybody else is offline, the darkest hours of the bar. Or earliest. Who knows?

It will probably take a month or two to come full circle. I'm not trying to make a Legend of Zelda, I'm trying to make a Kirby game... in terms of plot length anyway. Might go on for longer, depending on how others feel. I just don't want to repeat the same mistake that caused the whole tension between Cornwind and the others.

anyway, holy smokes I beat Squeak Squad 100% on my first go! I died to Dark Nebula, though. For shaaame.

I wish the Triple Star worked differently than the Star Rod (aside from the barrier of stars and range limitation), but what can ya do? Well, edit it in fanfiction, of course! Maybe later, though.

With the addition of spray cans from Amazing Mirror's already huge collection... Man. I really love Lavender, White, Shadow, and Carbon Kirby in addition to the Kirby Brigade colors, Ocean, and Sapphire. I still hate Cherry with a passion, though. That's an ugly combination of colors. Urgh.

Quick question, though...did I make Alex a bit too OP? I tried to balance his abilities and make the gods give him more stuff, only with drawbacks. I play those four off for comedy, anyway. Those four are never serious, unless shit happens. I should probably go into detail about them later. Ah well.

Goddamn it Goops, you got me into a tangent. A Kirby tangent.

Like I mentioned in his blog, I was really hooked on Kirby. Kirby is the whole reason I'm here now... I really started foruming around Kirby's Rainbow Resort (bless your souls, KindarSpirit and friends) and actually got my (mediocre) start in RPing there. Mind you, it was more casual than serious, but eeeeh.

Stella and Rain are currently commanding their armies for an epic prank war between realms. Warlock that has a tendency to quote the most cryptic shit from Shakesphere ever? Okay, that third one is more badass than anything, but you get the idea. For all that is dark, there is light. A sun for all the moons. Yin and Yang. Balaaaance. And I intend on helping with that balance!

I'm trying to work on a Kirby fanfic, a shortfic if you will, involving the Kirby Brigade. Thing is, I don't know what kind of plot to have. Of course, Grimdark plots are a no-no. This is supposed to be a funny kind of thing. My brain is kinda "bluuuh" on all of this, though, so tell me...

I'm actually having a lot of fun RPing as Kirby, by the way. He's just so adorable and perfect for silly subplots. He can talk (okay, write) when he wants to, but otherwise just acts cute with "Poyo!" His friends (Red Kirby, Yellow Kirby, and Green Kirby...yes, Amazing Mirror logic!) can talk, though. He's just the baby of the group. Maybe.

We shall see what sheenanigans with him I can get away with! Mwahahaha!

The little puffball Kirby watched from the heavens atop his Warp Star like a cute guardian angel. A cute, angry guardian angel. He saw James get impaled, and saw Antoinette prepare herself to face the Lord.

How many more casualties did he have to watch? How many times would his little heart break?  How many more tragic things would happen before his very eyes, things he could do nothing about... How many more would happen until the very end?

Tears began to well up in Kirby's big, blue eyes. He wept for the lost contestants, those who fought valiently to hold the Lord off. He prayed for the living, for they would need all the love and support they could have. And he planned, used his tiny little brain to plan ahead...

What if things went all to hell?

What if the darkness became all consuming?

It would all  be over...

But... Darkness cannot exist without light.

For every horrible thing, there was always something better.

For every dark creature that rose from the shadows, there was always a hero to counteract.

Should the balance be disturbed... should the Lord win...

Kirby would gladly be the light to the Lord's dark. And he knew just how to do it, too. 

And if the Lord lost? Well, he would just clean up the mess he made. No more of that nonsense.

For now...he just watched.

 My chemistry lab is a bitch and a half. Just sayin. And I'm getting too many ideas for my own good... KIRBY, GET OUT. YOU TOO, ALEX.

Seriously though, i might decide to write a short story (or fanfiction) related to Alex's homeland, Levia, or  Dreamland, respectively. It'll be a nice project to work on before I get started (again) on For Whom the Bell Tolls, which Alex will star in. (not the janitor, though!)

 And now, for a bit of a ramble. I swear to fucking jesus the Lord just reeks of smug fucktard. Oh, earlier, I would say he was a maginificant bastard, but now he's just overdoing it. Not even Yursarsh would ramble on and on about humanities  faults and bluh bluh. And you know what? I feel like he's going to pull a "As Long as There's ______, " and we're going to be super pissed.

All things Kirby aside, life is turning out pretty good. That entire spaz out over the Lord reappearing yesterday worried the hell out of me, though. Good to see that everything's settled and all, but honestly... Cornwind, if you're reading this... Next year, don't do giant plot arcs and pull stuff like this. There's this thing called arc fatigue and people get tired of it. If there are no apparent loose ends, like, say for instance Gooper's Marlin subplot and the Ultima Weapon/Atma subplot I'm doing right now, don't do it.

I knew he had something planned, but after that huge Lord fight, with a tractor fucking loving Optimus with a 100, I thought this was all over... But eh, let sleeping dogs lie, I guess.
